The night we spent in New Mexico was… well shady.  The hotel we were staying at was right near the local correctional facility and there were signs everywhere that read “do not pick up hitch hikers!”  So, in true paranoid Meghan fashion I piled all of our belongings up against the hotel door (a natural felon deterrent,) and barely slept!

Day 3 started out rainy and dreary, we had no idea how beautiful it would end up!  The only word I can use to describe day 3 is clouds, but not the bad kind…  Beautiful white puffy never ending clouds.  It was an amazing day to drive across the country.

As the sun began to rise, we were finally able to see the beautiful red rocks in daylight.

Our car was a champion on this trip, no issues at all!

My most favorite picture that I took on the trip, I love the yellow pastures with the bold blue sky.

We finally made it to the Grand Canyon right before sunset.  We caught a quick glimpse before heading to our hotel in Grand Canyon Village, and ended the night in true American fashion… with a warm dinner and a cold beer!
